Cultural Activities and Competitions

We cater to the holistic development of the students. To instill more interest in learning and to promote awareness of National & International events pupils are encouraged to conduct a quiz once a week at the assembly.

Inter – House Dramatics held on 16th August enthralled us with our budding actors giving stunning performances on stage. The Judges were Mrs. Jean, Sr. Philomena and Mrs. Dafney. The four houses staged Biblical plays

  • a) St. Anne’s staged "Joseph and his Technicolor coat"
  • b) "The Prodigal Son" was put up by St. Joseph’s House
  • c) St. Patrick’s staged "King Solomon - A Man of Wisdom"
  • d) While “Daniel in the lion’s Den” was the contribution of St. Teresa’s House

St. Patrick’s House bagged the first place followed by St. Joseph’s House.

The school Project has always helped to enhance the academics and creative excellence of the students. The project for classes 6 to 12 was held on 12th November. The display was innovative and informative.

As part of the curriculum, our students from Std. I to X were taken on a field trip. Std. XI took a trip to Wynad, it was an exotic experience for the students to be one with their friends and nature.

The supervised study class for the Bloomers has helped to raise their standard of performance in the examination. 12 Bulbuls attended the Heerak Punkah Test Camp at St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School, Iyappakkam and passed the same.

21 Girl Guides attended the Rajyapuraskar Test Camp at HOSKOTE camping and training centre from 7th to 9th July 2016 and passed the same.

Staff Orientation

An orientation programme for the Staff was conducted from the 20th to 22nd June on Safe Guarding the Rights of Children. Rev. Sr. Saverena and Rev. Sr. Rosalie Kunath were our resource persons. The sessions were very interesting and interactive. At the end of the 3 day workshop, the staff were given certificates and appreciated for their active participation.

An orientation for the Staff was conducted on the 27th August by Rev. Sr. Elsa and Rev. Sr. Marian Kurien. They briefed the teachers about transforming society through education.

Student Enrichment Programmes

An Orientation programme was conducted for our School Leaders on the theme - “A leader is one who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way”.

Mrs. Catherine gave an insight on “Health and Hygiene” and the students benefited by the talk on how to lead a healthy and hygienic life.

The teachers conducted an awareness programme on Child protection. This interactive session conveyed to the students the types of child abuse, child help line number and on how to tackle the challenges of the society. The students learnt through the puppet show, video clip and seminars.

Career guidance for classes X and XII was conducted by the Alumni. Experts from various fields were invited to give inspiring talks and guide the students to plan their future well.

Parents Seminar

"Success at school begins at home". Rev. Sr. Saverina enlightened our parents on Child Protection. It was an interactive session".

Celebration of National and Religious festivals

The students and teachers enjoyed celebrating their House Feasts with special assemblies.

Independence Day - August 15th was a day of celebration, the students of Std. X brought out the struggle our ancestors faced in attaining freedom and how we could help to elevate our country to greater heights.

Kalvivalarchi Naal was commemorated on 15th July. A special assembly was staged by the students of the Tamil Literary Club. A few scenes from the life of Kamarajar was enacted. A speech competition was conducted, students were encouraged to speak about Kamarajar and the winners were awarded prizes.

On Teachers' Day, the students paid their loving tribute to their mentors. Our students showcased their talents on stage and showed deep appreciation of their teachers. "You are our inspiration" was the theme of the assembly.

Pongal was also celebrated in our campus enriching its traditional values and culture.

Republic day was celebrated with a lot of patriotic fervor.

On the festival of lights – Diwali, a special assembly was colourfully staged by the students of Std. IX.

On the Presentation Day the life of Nano Nagle – was beautifully portrayed by the students of Std. VIII.

December, the month of Christmas celebration, was a season of rejoicing. A special gift hamper was distributed to the Blossoms.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life"

We extend our heart – felt gratitude to Mrs. Padmavathy Kumanan who has sincerely served our institution for 37 years as a Language Teacher. Mrs. Padma is also the recipient of the Best Teacher Award presented at the District Level by the Rotary Club of Madras. We place her in the hands of the Almighty God and wish her a happy and peaceful retired life.

To conclude, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the teaching, non-teaching and supportive staff for their enthusiastic co-operation and generous help. Parents and Well – Wishers, I thank you for all the support rendered. PTA and Alumni, thank you for your active involvement in our school.

Above all, we thank the Almighty, for His abundant blessings this year and pray for God’s continuous blessings on us, for the next academic year.
