In a progressive and proactive world, we believe that our children are growing in a conducive environment. We believe they are independent. We believe they are happy and contented. We believe they are safe and sound. Yet, deep within, there is a soul crying to break free, crying to escape the clutches of bondage, crying for liberation.
The world of a child may appear happy and colourful from the outside, but deep within, there may be bitterness and guilt hidden beneath the surface. They live in a world of secrecy where the soul cries to find a way out of the maze.
Understanding the concerns of the present generation, the Management of our school organised a talk titled “My Body – My Safety.”
Thanks to Dr. Vidya Hari Ayer, a renowned psychotherapist who enlightened the pupils of Standards IX, X, XI and XII about the various forms of abuse and the importance of understanding safe touch and unsafe touch. The statistical data shared with the students was quite alarming. It revealed that even toddlers as young as three years of age are subjected to abuse repeatedly by human predators.
It was also an eye-opener to learn that males are abused too. The resource person explained that sexual harassment in the workplace is addressed through the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act, while awareness and protection mechanisms are being strengthened for all genders.
Dr. Vidya highlighted the various comprehensive programmes she undertakes in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu to spread awareness about the growing incidence of abuse and the dangers of SAD (Smoking, Alcohol and Drugs) among the youth.
The present generation needs to be aware of the trendy and attractive ways through which negative influences can demoralise and mislead them. The session enhanced the awareness and understanding of the students, equipping them to make informed and responsible choices.
It is quintessential to sow the seeds of self-awareness and self-protection in our students. It is equally indispensable for them to strike a balance between the benefits of technology and the challenges that accompany its rapid advancement.

Likewise, beneath the cheerful exterior of many children may lie unspoken fears, hidden wounds, and silent cries for help. The programme served as a timely reminder that awareness, vigilance, and education are the strongest tools in safeguarding the dignity, safety, and well-being of every child.
The session concluded with an oath taken by the students to lead a life of strong moral values, followed by a demonstration of karate moves and self-defence techniques, empowering them to face life's physical and emotional battles with confidence and resilience."

The silent nights of Perambur gave way to a golden dawn, heralding not only a new day but also the Inter - Presentation Schools Dramatics.
Our campus, which usually witnesses students clad in grey and red pinafores, came alive with the sight of many green uniforms—the unique identity of the Presentation Schools.
With elevated spirits, we resumed the duties and responsibilities of the day. With the on-the-spot registrations and the drawing of lots to determine the order of the plays, the day began on a busy note, with teachers and students swarming around the campus like busy bees.
The day unfurled new ideas, new themes, and collaborative efforts.
With the welcoming of our Chief Guest, Rev. Sr. Grace Chacko, Superior of the Presentation Convent, George Town, and the arrival of the judges, Mrs. Margaret Rosair, Mrs. Odelia Dias and Mrs. Susan Rodrigues, the day's cultural fest commenced with a reflective invocation on the theme "Lighting the Legacy of Light."

It was a moment to reflect upon the often-said and sung question, "Who will light the lantern?"
The warm smiles and felicitations led us to the moment we had all been eagerly waiting for. Yes, we officially inaugurated the theatrical extravaganza 2026 on the theme, "Nano Nagle in Today's World," with St. Anthony's A.I.H. School, Pudupet, presenting their play first in order with elegance and excellence. Each school was given a duration of fifteen minutes, with an additional preparation time of five minutes.
The students of St. Anthony's Boys and Girls beautifully conveyed the message that "Knowledge without values is like a lantern without light." Through an imaginative portrayal of Nano Nagle time-travelling to their school, they highlighted the importance of combining education with compassion, integrity, and service. Their thought-provoking presentation set the tone for a day filled with artistic expression and dramatic passion.
Following this inspiring performance, we had the privilege of witnessing the talented actors from Sacred Heart Girls' High School, Church Park, who presented their thought-provoking play, "Yesterday's Light, Today's Hope." It was truly inspiring to watch these young performers display remarkable dynamism, confidence, and creativity on stage.
At the same time, it was heart-wrenching to witness the realities of life that they portrayed. By blending the real with the dramatic, they vividly highlighted the societal issues and challenges that students encounter in their everyday lives.
Their play also conveyed a message of hope, expressing their belief that by following the values and vision of Nano Nagle, society can be transformed into a more peaceful, compassionate, and just one.
We, the spectators, were overwhelmed by the grace and poise with which they portrayed the virtues and morals our Founder stood for.

It was not merely a display of talent, but a reminder of the dire need to spread the charism and compassion of Venerable Nano Nagle.
Where Artificial Intelligence often plays the role of a hero, we at St. Joseph felt the compelling need to replace AI with Faith and Morals.
A glimpse into the history of our Presentation Schools reveals a common goal shared by all: not merely the advancement of technology or the upgrading of infrastructure, but the formation of students in values that no Artificial Intelligence can ever replace.
The students dramatized their plays remarkably well, blending seamlessly with the theme and its message.
Sacred Heart Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Church Park displayed their passion and love for their Founder by taking us back to the century in which Nano Nagle lived through their play titled, "The Unfinished Mission." With a courageous "yes" and a tiny lantern in her hand, Nano Nagle set out on a mission that would illuminate countless lives. The students beautifully portrayed her unwavering faith and commitment to the poor and the marginalized.
Their performance served as a powerful reminder that Nano's mission remains unfinished and continues to call each one of us to be bearers of light in today's world.
St. Columban's A.I. Hr. Sec. School, George Town highlighted the various challenges confronting our world today, with particular emphasis on environmental issues that demand urgent intervention from humanity. Through their thought-provoking play, the students drew attention to the growing ecological crisis and the responsibility shared by individuals, communities, and world leaders in safeguarding our planet.
The play skillfully connected global concerns with present-day realities. By highlighting the environmental initiatives undertaken through various club activities in schools and communities, the students demonstrated that even small efforts can contribute towards a healthier and more sustainable world. Their performance echoed Nano Nagle's spirit of love and service.
St. William's A.I. Hr. Sec. School, Royapettah joined hands in creating awareness about the urgent need to protect and preserve Mother Earth. Through their engaging and meaningful performance, the students highlighted the environmental challenges facing our planet and emphasized the responsibility of every individual to become a steward of creation.
Echoing the spirit and vision of Nano Nagle, the play conveyed a powerful message: "We are the Light, We are the Mission." The students reminded the audience that meaningful change begins with each one of us . Their performance inspired all present to transform concern into action and to work together towards a greener and brighter future.
St. Ursula's A.I. Hr. Sec. School paid a fitting tribute to the Presentation Sisters through a beautiful Lantern Pageant, honouring the members of this vast and illustrious Presentation Congregation. The students reverently celebrated the dedicated service and commitment of the Sisters who have faithfully carried forward the vision and mission of Nano Nagle across generations.
With glowing lanterns symbolising the light of Nano's legacy, the pageant expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sisters for their tireless efforts in the fields of education, faith formation, and social outreach. It was a moving tribute that reminded everyone present of the enduring impact of the Presentation Sisters, whose lives continue to inspire and illuminate countless hearts.
St. Aloysius A.I. Hr. Sec. School deserves special credit for portraying the life and mission of that empowered woman, Nano Nagle, who remains deeply rooted in our hearts even today because of the selfless sacrifices she made for the poor and the marginalized.
The play reflected on the realities of the modern world, reminding us that while technology has brought people closer than ever before, many hearts remain far apart. In an age of constant connectivity, the students emphasized the need for genuine human relationships, compassion, and understanding—values that Nano Nagle lived and championed. Their performance served as a reminder that her mission continues to inspire us to bridge not only distances but also the gaps that exist between people and communities.

The Best Play Award was bagged by St. Columban's A.I. Hr. Sec. School, George Town, while the Runners-up Award was presented to St. Aloysius A.I. Hr. Sec. School, Vepery.
The Most Promising Actor Award was won by Fathima Fawza, while Michelle Riona Jasper was declared the runner-up.
28 August 2026 deserves a place in the annals of our history, for it witnessed the coming together of ten Presentation Schools under one canopy, united in spirit, purpose, and the cherished legacy of Nano Nagle.
With eight schools participating in the competition, Sacred Heart ICSE School gracing the occasion as our esteemed spectators, and our own school presenting the Guest Performance, the event truly became a communion of ten Presentation institutions, celebrating their shared mission, values, and heritage.
The much-awaited guest performance by the pupils of St. Joseph A.I. Hr. Sec. School, Perambur was equally captivating.
The actors on stage strongly emphasised the calibre and charism of Nano through their play titled "Nano's Court of Compassion."
At the close of the event, we invited the Nanos of all the schools onto the stage, and the response was overwhelming.
We extend our warmest gratitude to the Heads of the Presentation Schools for encouraging their pupils towards active participation. We appreciate their competitive spirit and time management.
A heartfelt salute to our dear Correspondent, Rev. Sr. Prabha, and our Headmistress, Rev. Sr. Vanitha, for being the guiding forces behind the success of the day.
The day was an answer to the often-asked question, "Who will light the lantern?"
Yes, we, the Josephites, have lit the lantern with the passionate participation of the eight schools.

Yes, though there were many entries and exits, our message was ONE, and our mission was WON.

The students of Std I dressed up as different community helpers and stepped into their roles with great enthusiasm. From doctors and nurses to police officers, teachers, firefighters, and many others, the children confidently portrayed the people who serve society every day.
The activity was both fun and educational, helping the students understand the value of various professions and the important role each community helper plays in our daily lives. Through role play, the children learned to appreciate the dedication, hard work, and selfless service of those who work tirelessly to make our community a safer, healthier, and happier place.
The Community Helpers Activity was a joyful learning experience that fostered gratitude, respect, and a sense of responsibility among the young learners.

Our school celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with a meaningful and vibrant two-day programme on August 14th and 15th, 2026, bringing together the spirit of patriotism, freedom, faith and responsible citizenship.
The celebrations began on 14th August with a special assembly put together by the students of Std X that beautifully blended devotion with patriotism. The programme featured a prayer dance, a Marian hymn, inspiring songs celebrating freedom and an energetic dance presentation depicting the spirit of a free India.
The highlight of the assembly was the skit, “The History Book,” which took the audience on a journey through India’s struggle for freedom. The pre-Independence scenes brought to life four inspiring personalities from Tamil Nadu—Veerapandiya Kattabomman, V. O. Chidambaram Pillai, Mahakavi Subramania Bharati and Tiruppur Kumaran. To preserve the authenticity of the historical characters and the period portrayed, the pre-Independence scenes were enacted in Tamil, while the present-day scenes were enacted in English. Through their stories, the skit highlighted the values of courage, self-reliance, equality and patriotism, reminding the students that they have a responsibility to write the next chapter of our nation’s history.
The programme was further enriched by an inspiring address by Mrs Jeksy Antony, a respected teacher of our school who will be retiring this academic year. Her presence as the Chief Guest added a special and memorable touch to the celebration..
The celebrations continued on August 15th with the National Flag being hoisted by Mrs Jeksy Antony. The ceremony commenced with Tamil Thai Vaazhthu, followed by the Kodi Paatu and the National Anthem, creating a solemn and patriotic atmosphere. Two students then delivered thoughtful speeches recalling the sacrifices and struggles of the brave men and women who fought for the nation’s independence.
The two-day celebration served as a reminder that freedom is not merely a privilege but a responsibility. Inspired by the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the school community renewed its commitment to uphold the values of unity, honesty, equality, courage and service, and to contribute towards building a stronger and better India.

In this fast-paced world of technology, we realised the need to instill in our students a love for and appreciation of Mother Nature.
The students of Standard I were taken on a walk through the school garden. They had a delightful day connecting with the greenery around them. They enjoyed a peaceful walk, observing the beauty of the flowers, the strength of the trees, the chirping of the birds, and the fluttering of the butterflies. They were encouraged to admire and appreciate the wonders of the natural world.
The experience continued with an engaging clay modelling activity, where the children expressed their creativity by shaping nature-inspired creations. It was a joyful day of exploration, imagination, and hands-on learning that encouraged curiosity and fostered a deeper love for nature.
The children were clad in green as a mark of respect and love for Mother Earth.
"A Test of Mental Strength and Stamina – Sports Day "
The morning sun raced across the blue sky, announcing the dawn of the Annual Sports Meet of St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Presentation Convent, Perambur.
The pigeons of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Periamet, Chennai, fluttered across the vast expanse of the sky, heralding the readiness and determination of every athlete and participant.
With a Guard of Honour presented by our proud Girl Guides, the school welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr. Sandeep Nanduri, IAS, Secretary, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The Annual Sports Meet commenced amidst smiles, applause, and cheers that echoed throughout the pavilion.
July 16, 2026 was a moment every student had eagerly awaited—a day to celebrate their alma mater and represent their respective Houses: St. Anne’s (Blue), St. Joseph’s (Pink), St. Patrick’s (Green), and St. Teresa’s (Red).
As the saying goes, “It is in the blood,” and the Josephites never disappointed the spectators with their synchronised marching. It was a fitting tribute to the glorious legacy of St. Joseph’s, a school whose rich history and tradition continue to inspire generations. The spirit of the Presentation Congregation resonated through every step taken on the field.
The celebration reached its zenith with the Opening Ceremony themed “Celebrating the Women Who Grow Life.” In commemoration of the International Year of Women Farmers, the students of Std. IX presented a captivating dance-drama highlighting the dual role of a woman farmer.
In the blink of an eye, the athletes were on the field, warming up like charged batteries filled with undying spirit and enthusiasm. The 100-metre dash, 200-metre dash, relay races, and various track and field events produced countless moments of excitement and achievement. Every race carried a story of courage, determination, and the will to excel.
A Sports Day without team games is like a garden without flowers. The students of Std. II to VI left their parents spellbound with their agility, coordination, and sporting skills. Gliding, jumping, balancing, and sprinting through various events, the young participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and talent.
As prizes, medals, trophies, and shields were distributed, the school flag was ceremoniously handed back to the Principal for safekeeping until the next Sports Meet.
Thus, the Josephites wrapped up the beautiful gift of memories from the Annual Sports Meet 2026–2027—memories that will be cherished, recalled, and celebrated for many years to come.

The solemn occasion of the Investiture Ceremony was presided over by our Correspondent, Rev. Sr. Prabha Puthota on 20.06.2026 in our school campus. The Chief guest addressed the gathering highlighting some of the great leaders in history like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhiji, Winston Churhchill and Jesus who is the greatest leader of all times. The event began by invoking God’s blessings by the choir. The students of standard XII showcased a special assembly with the theme “Lead with purpose, serve with pride”. The newly elected captains took their oath and were honoured with their badges. The event marked not just the election of new leaders, but also keeping up our school’s tradition and legacy.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, children enthusiastically participated in various yoga activities and demonstrated different yoga postures with great energy and excitement. Through yoga, children learned the values of discipline, concentration, flexibility, and inner peace.
Teachers guided them through simple asanas and breathing exercises, helping them understand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
